The Fourth of July turns patriotic in a way that somehow feels perfectly suited for Cape May, with parades, fireworks, and oceanfront celebrations beneath summer skies.
Then autumn wanders in carrying migration wings and jazz music.
Birdwatchers return for one of the world’s great migration seasons. Thousands of hawks, songbirds, and shorebirds pass through local preserves while guided walks and workshops fill the schedule.
And then Cape May remembers it also has a wonderfully odd side.
Because every fall the town proudly celebrates…

Because apparently Cape May looked at ordinary harvest celebrations and thought:
“Needs more legumes.”
And then winter arrives.
Most shore towns become quiet.
Cape May becomes Victorian.

Candlelight house tours glow against cold evening skies while the Physick Estate transforms into a holiday centerpiece.
For over a month, the entire town seems to step into another era.
Maybe that’s Cape May’s seasonal secret.
