March at the shore is WIND SEASON.
The ocean is still cold, but the breeze is already showing off. 😏🌬️
So this week’s IRL game is:
Make a Paper Kite (or Airplane)
Then test it for flight like you’re launching a tiny dream into spring.
🕹️ How to Play
Pick one:
✅ Option A: Paper Airplane Contest
- Everyone makes one airplane
- Launch from the same spot
- Categories:
- Longest Flight
- Best Trick
- Most Dramatic Crash
✅ Option B: Mini Paper Kite
- Build a simple kite shape
- Tape a tail (string or paper strips)
- Hold it near a fan, outside breeze, or run with it (safely!)
- Award: Most “Kite-Like” Behavior
✂️ QUICK AIRPLANE INSTRUCTIONS
- Fold paper in half lengthwise
- Fold top corners into center line
- Fold new edges into center line
- Fold in half again
- Fold wings down
- Launch like a pirate captain commanding the skies 😏🏴☠️
✂️ ALMOST AS QUICK KITE INSTRUCTIONS
- Fold in Half: Fold your paper in half lengthwise (hotdog style) and then unfold it to create a center crease.
- Create the Point: Take the top right corner and fold it down so the edge aligns with the center crease. Repeat with the top left corner.
- Flip & Repeat: Turn the paper over and fold the other side’s top edges to the center crease as well.
- Secure the Front: Flip the kite back over and tape the front seam, reinforcing the center fold.
- Add the Frame (Spine): Lay a skewer or straw (cut to size) across the widest part of the kite (the spine) and tape it securely.
- Reinforce the Bridle Point: Place a small piece of tape about a third down from the top point on the spine.
- Make the Bridle: Punch or carefully cut a small hole through the taped spot. Tie your flying string through this hole.
- Add the Tail: Tape streamers or a long strip of ribbon to the bottom point of the kite for balance; a 5-6 foot tail works well. 😏🪁
🏖️ Beach Tag Wisdom
You don’t need a big sky to have big fun.
You just need wind and a little imagination.
Call to action:
Team airplane or team kite? And be honest… how many crashes before success? 😂
