Wildwood Entertainment & Attractions: Where the Beach Apparently Said “Hold My Funnel Cake”

Wildwood does not believe in subtlety.

Cape May quietly handed us diamonds and shipwrecks.

Wildwood looked at that and responded:

“Cool.”

“We built roller coasters on the beach.” 😂

Because the first thing you notice about Wildwood isn’t just the beach.

It’s the size of the beach.

Five miles of wide, powdery sand stretching outward like somebody accidentally set the beach size slider too high.

And Wildwood apparently looked at all that space and said:

“Let’s put EVERYTHING on it.”

Let’s begin with Morey’s Piers.

Because Morey’s doesn’t really feel like an amusement park.

It feels like somebody had a dream involving roller coasters, water slides, carnival games, and absolute chaos…and then somehow got funding.

Three giant piers.

Over one hundred rides.

Water parks sitting directly beside the ocean.

And roller coasters literally extending out over the beach.

Because regular roller coasters apparently weren’t dramatic enough.

Then there are the water parks.

Lazy rivers.

Massive slides.

Splash zones.

Wave pools.

All sitting practically on the sand itself.

You can go from ocean water…

to water slide…

back to ocean water…

without ever really understanding what category your day belongs in anymore.

Then comes Wildwood’s favorite hobby:

Turning beaches into giant event stages.

Because Wildwood doesn’t host festivals.

Wildwood deploys festivals.

One week giant kites fill the sky.

Another week monster trucks are somehow racing on sand.

Then country music stars arrive.

Then Jeeps appear.

Then fireworks explode over the ocean.

And at some point you stop asking questions.

The Wildwoods International Kite Festival might secretly be one of the coolest examples. Massive colorful kites, sport-flying competitions, and illuminated night flights transform the sky into something that looks halfway between an art show and a dream sequence.

Then there are the active beach people.

Volleyball.

Basketball.

Soccer.

Surfing.

Jet skiing.

Parasailing.

Kayaking.

Boogie boarding.

Wildwood seems deeply committed to making sure no one accidentally relaxes too much.

And then…

Friday night arrives.

Fireworks begin over the ocean near Morey’s Piers.

And suddenly thousands of people stop moving at the same time.

The rides keep spinning.

The ocean keeps rolling.

The sky lights up.

And for a few minutes everything pauses.

And maybe that’s Wildwood’s secret.

Maybe Wildwood isn’t trying to give you one attraction.

Maybe Wildwood is the attraction.

A giant, sandy, neon-colored playground where someone keeps adding things and somehow still has room left over.
