There’s nothing like an artist to show you what you’ve been missing…
and nothing like the castaways to weaponize that artist like a rescue device. 😏🎨🏝️
In “Goodbye, Old Paint,” the castaways meet Alexandri Gregor Dubov (because of course that’s his name) and instantly think:
“This is it. He’s our ticket home.” 🎫
So they do what they always do:
they scheme.
they act.
they overplay their hand like it’s poker night on a palm tree.
But here’s the island irony:
Dubov is captivated by the island’s rustic charm.
The simple life, the raw beauty, the “unpolished paradise.”
Meanwhile, the castaways are still romanticizing the “civilized world” they miss…
as if civilization hasn’t already been a total clown show. 🤡🏙️
🎩 Thurston’s Lesson of the Week
Desperation makes you manipulative.
Perspective makes you grateful.
The castaways want escape so badly they can’t see what’s in front of them:
a weird, wild, ridiculous little paradise.
And the artist, of all people, sees it instantly.
