Beach Movie Monday: The Beach Girls and the Monster (1965)

Some beach movies give you sunshine, sand, and songs.
And some beach movies give you sunshine, sand, songs… and a monster that wants to ruin everybody’s vibe. 😏🌊

The Beach Girls and the Monster (1965) (also known as Monster from the Surf) is a deliciously weird blend of teen beach-party fun and low-budget horror, like somebody tossed a surfboard into a haunted lagoon and said, “Roll cameras.”

The setup is simple and perfect:
A gang of young surfers and beach girls are living their best life… until a mysterious sea creature starts menacing the coast. Suddenly the ocean goes from “vacation mode” to “uhhh… maybe stay in the shallow end.” 🐲🏄‍♀️

What makes this one such a fun watch is the tone:
It’s not trying to be Jaws.
It’s trying to be Beach Blanket Bingo with a side of creature-feature nonsense, and honestly? That’s exactly why it works.

📽️ Watch it if you’re in the mood for:
✅ surf rock + beach party energy
✅ retro monster mayhem
✅ “so bad it’s good” 60s charm
✅ a perfect movie for laughing with friends

Because sometimes the best Shore entertainment is the kind that doesn’t take itself seriously…
even when the monster does. 😄🌊👣
